Road Maintenance and Construction Worker I

Performs a variety of manual and semi-skilled tasks and operates light automotive and other equipment used in the general construction and maintenance of County roads, bridges and other related facilities.  Flags, controls and directs traffic.  Some experience in general maintenance and construction work; sufficient education to demonstrate the ability to read and write; or any satisfactory equivalent of experience and training.  Requires possession of a valid Oregon Driver License.  Requires Flagger Card.  Salary:  $14.56 – 18.60/hour plus excellent benefits and retirement.  Open until filled.  Requires pre-employment drug screen.

Road Maintenance and Construction Worker III

Performs a variety of skilled manual tasks and operates heavy and specialized equipment requiring journeyman level skills in the general construction and maintenance of County roads, bridges and related facilities.  Minimum of three years’ experience in general highway maintenance and construction work; sufficient education to insure the ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic computations; or any satisfactory equivalent of experience and training.  Requires valid Class A Oregon Commercial Driver License.  Flagger card preferred.  Salary:  $17.72 – 22.64/hour plus excellent benefits and retirement.  Open until filled.  Requires pre-employment drug screen.

Building Official

Curry County is seeking a Building Official with proficiency in Oregon building statutes and good technical, administrative and communication skills.  We are located on the beautiful southern Oregon Coast with a wide variety of outdoor recreation opportunities and rural community ambiance. Check out www.travelcurrycoast.com to learn more about our area.  The person in this position will provide Oregon Specialty Building Code interpretations and information, provide plan check services, perform on-site inspections, prepare and monitor the Building Division capital, services and personnel costs, and be responsible for enforcement for Building code violations. Event Center Maintenance/Groundskeeper

Curry County Event Center on the Beach is accepting applications for a part-time Maintenance Assistant/Groundskeeper.  Performs grounds maintenance, construction and facility repair as required.  Operates a variety of light power equipment.  Set up/tear down temporary structures and signs, exhibit booths, assists in moving, arranging and storing exhibits.  High school graduation or equivalent; minimum two years experience performing manual labor in construction, landscaping or maintenance work.  Must possess a valid driver license.  Salary: $10.00/hour.  Open until filled.

Survey Tech (Temporary)

The Curry County Surveyor’s Office is accepting applications for two temporary summer-help Survey Technicians.  The positions will be for the 2018 Summer only, 18 hours per week to help with Public Land Survey System (PLSS) corner restoration work in the Chetco Bar Fire area.

 Desired traits:
Interest in Forestry or Engineering
Good basic math and note keeping skills
Good health, strength and willingness to carry up to 30 pounds into the back country
Have a good work ethic and after instruction, to work safely, unsupervised and alone on many days

             Requirements:

Valid Oregon Driver’s License and personal automobile insurance
Must be at least 18 years old to drive County vehicle
Field craft skills to accomplish the work without injury in the woods

 The job offers:

 $14.00 per hour for 18 hours each week for approximately 12 weeks
Instruction using a handheld GPS to navigate to PLSS corners
Instruction on what to look for, notes & pictures to take and necessary measurements to make
After initial location reconnaissance, assist the surveyor in setting new bearing trees, setting new monuments & witness objects and corner record preparation
If time permits, assist surveyor in surveys to reestablish corners where little evidence remains of their original position

Curry County District Attorney’s Office is accepting applications for a Deputy District Attorney III.  The position requires professional legal work in the investigation, preparation and prosecution of major criminal actions including, but not limited to, murder, manslaughter, rape, sodomy, assault cases, etc.  Applicants must be graduates of an accredited law school, members in good standing of the Oregon State Bar, and possess a valid driver license.  Requires more than three years of experience as a Deputy District Attorney or its equivalent.  Salary:  $4906-6261/month depending on experience.  Position includes excellent benefits and retirement.  Open until filled.  Pre-employment drug screen and criminal history check required.

Corrections Peer Support Specialist

 
Curry County is accepting applications for a part time (15-18 hours per week) Corrections Peer Support Specialist to serve those participants who are currently incarcerated at the Curry County Jail.  The Peer Support Specialist has experience as a recipient of mental health services and personal experience in the criminal justice system and is willing to use and share his or her personal, practical experience, knowledge, and first-hand insight with clients.  Requires high school diploma; previous history of participation in the Community Mental Health System; strong teaming skills.  Must be able to obtain clearance to enter the county jail.  Some evening and weekend hours may be required.  Salary: $13.00/hour.  Open until filled.

The Curry County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a full time Communications Deputy.  The Communications Deputy answers emergency and service calls from the public and dispatches police, fire and medical units.  Special requirements for the position include:  applicants must be at least 21 years of age; have a valid driver license; type 45 wpm; high school graduation or equivalent; willingness and ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays.  Experience or certification preferred but not mandatory.  Salary:  $3258 – 4158/month plus excellent benefits. Curry County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for a Road Deputy.  Enforces state and local traffic, criminal, and civil laws and ordinances.  Patrols roads, waterways, and business and residential areas.  One continuous year of experience as a law enforcement officer, or graduation from a two year college with an Associate’s degree in Law Enforcement; or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training.  DPSST certification preferred.  Salary:  $3472 – 4429/month depending on experience and certification.  Includes excellent benefits and retirement.   Pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check required.
