The purpose of the Curry County Juvenile Department is to protect the community from delinquency, impose accountability from offenses committed, equip juvenile offenders with competencies to live productively and responsibly in the community, and foster youth advocacy.
The community is entitled to safety from crime. The Juvenile Department provides response to delinquent behavior and control of youth who violate the law and the rights of others.
Delinquent youth incur an obligation to the community and victims they offend. The Juvenile Department holds youth responsible for their behavior by providing services/programs which require accountability for their delinquent behavior.
Juvenile offenders should leave the Juvenile Justice System more capable of living productively and responsibly in our community. The Juvenile Department promotes youth competency development to enable youth to become contributing members of our community.
Juvenile offenders deserve the opportunity for individualized assessment and fair treatment so their best interest and general well being will be served. The Juvenile Department advocates for appropriate treatment by the Juvenile Justice System, and individualized programs and services for youth.
